I'm Hesham, and Here's My Take on the Canton Fair's Autumn Edition
Most Arab traders only know the Canton Fair's spring edition (April) and miss that there's a full autumn edition of the same size in October and November — sometimes a better opportunity because it's less crowded than spring. I've attended both editions multiple times since 2019, and this guide covers the differences, the exact dates for this autumn, and how to plan your visit smartly.
Quick Answer
Canton Fair Autumn 2026 in Guangzhou runs in 3 phases: Phase 1 (Oct 15-19) electronics, machinery & building materials; Phase 2 (Oct 23-27) consumer goods, gifts & décor; Phase 3 (Oct 31-Nov 4) textiles, garments & food. It falls right after China's National Day Golden Week (Oct 1-7), a relatively calmer period.

The Three Autumn Phases, Exact Dates
The autumn edition keeps the same structure as spring: 3 phases, 5 days each, with a two-to-three day gap between them. For autumn 2026:
Canton Fair Autumn 2026 Dates
- Phase 1 (Oct 15-19): Electronics, industrial machinery, building materials & lighting.
- Phase 2 (Oct 23-27): Consumer goods, gifts, home décor, toys.
- Phase 3 (Oct 31-Nov 4): Textiles, garments, footwear, food & supplements.
Note there's no exhibition on Oct 20-22 or Oct 28-30 — official breaks between phases. If your trip covers more than one phase, use those days to switch hotels, visit a factory, or take a short trip to a nearby city like Shenzhen (about 30 minutes by high-speed rail from Guangzhou).
Is the Autumn Edition Better Than Spring?
A question I get a lot. Having attended both editions multiple times, the real difference isn't in the quality of exhibitors — that's about the same — it's two things:
- Crowds: April tends to be busier because it aligns with the start of ordering season for the upcoming summer and Ramadan. October is relatively calmer, especially in the first days of each phase.
- Timing for the Arab market: If you're importing for Ramadan or summer season, April gives you enough lead time for shipping and customs clearance. If you're importing for winter or year-end goods (décor, gifts), October is the right timing.
Registration & Getting There
Registration for the autumn edition usually opens about two to three months before the fair (roughly mid-July to August for this autumn). Same steps as spring: a passport photo, a white-background headshot, and your company or business license details. Online pre-registration is free — register early to skip the queue at the Building A registration desk.
For hotels, same advice as spring: look for a hotel on Metro Line 8 (serves the fair directly) around stations like Kecun or Chigang, priced ¥500-800/night, instead of Pazhou-area hotels that can exceed ¥2,000 during the fair.

Heads Up: Overlap With China's National Day Golden Week
One upside: since the fair starts a full week after the holiday ends, suppliers are back to their normal routine — unlike some fairs that fall right after a public holiday where staff are still trickling back.
Negotiation: Same Rules, Quick Refresher
I wrote a full guide on negotiating with suppliers at the Canton Fair (read it here), but the two points to always remember: never show excitement for a product, and ask for the full-container (FCL) price even if you want a smaller quantity, so you know the real margin. The last day of each phase is usually the best time to close a final deal.
