My Personal Experience
I've visited the Forbidden City multiple times during my years in China, and each visit reveals new details. Entering through the Meridian Gate (午门), you feel transported through time. The vast courtyards and yellow-roofed palaces adorned with dragon carvings are breathtaking. I explored the three Great Halls: the Hall of Supreme Harmony (太和殿) where emperors received officials, the Hall of Central Harmony, and the Hall of Preserving Harmony. The bronze statues, carved pillars, and colorful wooden decorations tell the story of a magnificent civilization.
The Imperial Gardens at the back are peaceful and beautiful, with ancient trees and carefully arranged rocks. I recommend allowing 3-4 full hours for the visit.
