Confucius Temple -- The Dacheng Hall

China's largest Confucian temple, and the Dacheng Hall (Hall of Great Achievement) is the symbolic heart of the complex, where ceremonies honoring Confucius are still held. The architecture and dragon-carved columns are some of the finest you'll see at any historic site in China.

The Kong Family Mansion & Confucius Cemetery

The Kong Family Mansion (home to Confucius's direct descendants) was the residence of the ruling family for centuries. The Confucius Cemetery (the largest preserved family cemetery in China) is a short distance away -- the easiest way there is a direct taxi for about ¥15-20.

How to Get to Qufu

The best route is a high-speed train from Beijing, about 2.5 hours on the Beijing-Shanghai line, arriving at Qufu East Railway Station. The temple is about 13km from the station (roughly 30 minutes by car) -- you can take bus K03, K05, or K09 to reach the temple and family mansion.

💡 Tip: All three sites sit close together within the city, so you can realistically see all three in one day if you plan your time well -- start at the temple in the morning before the crowds.
